At Lantana, our team is the heart and soul of our exceptional service. Today, we're excited to introduce you to one of our standout team members at Lantana Group, Craig Mellor. To give you a deeper insight into Craig's journey into hospitality and what makes him an invaluable part of our family, we also have a special note from his manager, Lauren.

How did you get started in hospitality and what inspired you to pursue this career?

I began my journey in hospitality at the age of 13, simply looking to earn some extra money. As a shy child, I didn't initially see it as a fit for me, but it was one of the few professions that welcomed young, untrained workers. I am incredibly thankful for that opportunity. Interacting with strangers and building relationships with guests provided the confidence boost I needed in life. Over time, I realised that hospitality was a perfect match for me.

What excites you most about your role?

I've experienced various facets of hospitality, from working in bars to serving at 40,000 feet as an airline Cabin Crew Member. Regardless of the role, the most rewarding part is making someone's day better. A simple listening ear or a kind gesture can turn someone's day around. Those moments are what make the job fulfilling, along with the perk of free food!

To you, what is great service?

Many believe that great service means exerting the most energy or spending the most time on something. To me, great service is simply about listening to what your guests need. You don't have to work in a high-end establishment to offer excellent service. It comes from listening, reacting, and anticipating the needs of your guests.

What makes Lantana special?

Lantana has provided me with so much in my short time here. They truly look out for their team members. With hard work and their support, I've received two promotions in just over 13 months. Lantana has greatly helped me develop my career, and I intend to continue growing within the Lantana Family.
